FAQ

Common questions.

How much does a new air conditioner cost installed?

Our pricing list publishes installed prices from $3,750 + HST for a 1.5 ton Keeprite up to $7,500 + HST for a 5 ton, equipment and installation included. If the evaporator coil in your furnace also needs replacing that is a separate equipment cost, listed on the same page; if the existing coil is sound it gets reused and there is nothing extra.

What size air conditioner do I need?

Sizing runs at roughly one ton per 1,000 square feet, adjusted for your home's actual cooling load, insulation and windows. Bigger is not better: an oversized unit short-cycles, never runs long enough to pull humidity out, and wears out sooner.

How long does an installation take?

A straightforward changeover is usually a single day. Electrical work, a new line set, or coil and ductwork changes can extend it.

Do I have to replace the furnace at the same time?

No, but it is worth checking. The indoor coil sits in the furnace, and if the furnace is near the end of its life you may end up paying twice for the same access. We will tell you honestly whether yours is worth keeping.

Are there rebates on a new air conditioner?

Air conditioning on its own is less commonly covered than heat pumps, but federal and Enbridge Gas programs do change. If your job qualifies we will tell you, and the programs are linked on our heat pump and installation pages.

Is financing available?

Yes. Payments start at $42 a month on qualifying installations, with 0% plans available depending on what you qualify for.

Rebates worth checking first

Before you replace equipment, check what it qualifies for. Between the federal and Enbridge programs, a qualifying upgrade can come back to you in rebates — we will tell you which of these apply to your job.
