Frequently asked questions

Straight answers to what people actually ask us. Call (647) 280-6626 any hour if yours is not here.

My furnace is running but blowing cold air. What causes that?

Most often a failed ignition sequence, a tripped flame sensor, or a safety limit shutting the burners down while the blower keeps running. It can also be a thermostat set to ON instead of AUTO, which runs the fan continuously. A diagnostic tells you which of those it is rather than guessing at parts.

Is it worth repairing my furnace or should I replace it?

A common rule of thumb: multiply the age of the unit in years by the estimated repair cost. If the result is over $5,000, replacement is usually worth considering. Age, efficiency, how many times it has already been fixed and whether the heat exchanger is sound all matter. We will tell you when a repair is not worth it.

How long does a furnace repair take?

Most repairs are finished in a single visit once the fault is identified. Repairs that need a part we do not carry on the truck, or a manufacturer-specific component, may need a second visit.

Do you repair furnaces at night and on weekends?

Calls are answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and no-heat calls are treated as urgent. In an Ontario winter a dead furnace is a safety issue, not an inconvenience.

Is furnace work regulated in Ontario?

Yes. Gas-fired appliances fall under the Technical Standards and Safety Authority, which sets the licensing and inspection rules for fuel-burning equipment across the province. Work is done to those standards and permitted where the municipality requires it.

What should I do if I smell gas or the carbon monoxide alarm sounds?

Do not troubleshoot it yourself. Leave the building, and from outside call your gas utility's 24-hour emergency line, or 911 if anyone feels unwell. Call us once the immediate hazard has been dealt with and we will take it from there.

Safety and licensing

Gas work in Ontario is regulated. Every gas appliance we touch is handled to the standards set by the province’s safety regulator, and any certificate or licence we hold can be verified through them.
