Straight answers to what people actually ask us. Call (647) 280-6626 any hour if yours is not here.

My tankless unit is showing an error code. What does that mean?

Error codes are manufacturer specific, but the common families are ignition failure, flame loss, exhaust or air supply blockage, overheating and flow-sensor faults. Note the code before you reset it, because it points straight at the problem and saves diagnostic time.

The hot water goes cold for a few seconds then comes back. Why?

Usually the cold-water sandwich, which happens when you draw hot water shortly after stopping. If it happens on every draw rather than intermittently, it is worth checking the flow sensor and the minimum flow rate the unit needs to fire.

How often does a tankless water heater need descaling?

Roughly once a year in most of the GTA, and more often on hard water. Scale on the heat exchanger is the single most common cause of premature tankless failure, and most manufacturers require the service to keep the warranty valid.

Why does my tankless unit not fire for a small trickle of hot water?

By design. A tankless heater needs a minimum flow rate before it ignites, so a barely-open tap will not trigger it. If it fails to fire at normal flow, that is a fault worth looking at.

Is it worth repairing or replacing a tankless unit?

Tankless units generally last longer than tanks and most faults are repairable, so repair is more often the right call. Our pricing list publishes installed prices for Rinnai replacements if it turns out the unit is beyond economical repair.

Do you service all tankless brands?

Repair and maintenance is done on all makes and models. On replacements we most often fit Rinnai, which is what our published pricing covers.
