Yes. Gas work needs its own licence and plenty of HVAC companies do not have one, so they hire it out to a gas contractor. We hold the licence ourselves. The person who quotes your job is the person who does it, and there is one company to call if anything needs looking at again.

Yes, those are some of our most common jobs. The size of pipe you need depends on the appliance and how far it sits from your meter. That is why we cannot always just tap into a line that is already there. If you are planning to add something else later, like a firepit or a pool heater, tell us now. Sizing it once is cheaper than opening the same run twice.

Because everything shares the same supply. If that pipe was sized for your furnace and water heater, adding a stove or a pool heater can starve all three. You would notice it as a furnace that struggles on a cold night, or an appliance that burns badly. We work out the total load first.

For the gas line itself, usually not. Gas piping in Ontario is not handled by the City. It is covered by the province's gas safety regulator, and the rule is that a licensed gas contractor has to do the work. The City does require a permit for some of the building work that can come with a gas job, like a gas fireplace used for heating, a furnace efficiency upgrade, duct changes or a rooftop unit replacement. We work around tenant notice and building access, and you get written paperwork for the building file. One thing we are upfront about: a large central boiler plant in a high rise needs a higher licence than ours, and we will say so rather than waste your time.

A kitchen line has to be sized for everything running at once, not one appliance at a time, or the burners drop off when you are busiest. We can work evenings and nights so you do not have to close.

We pressure test it before any gas goes near it, so a leak shows up on a gauge instead of in your building. Once the gas is on we check every joint again with a detector, then fire up the appliance and make sure it is burning properly.

It depends on how far the appliance is from your meter, how big the pipe has to be, and what the pipe has to get through along the way. A short run across an open basement is very different from one going under a finished floor. You get the full price in writing before we start, permits included. That happens, especially on older homes where someone wants to add a pool heater or a garage heater to a service sized decades ago. The meter belongs to the gas company, so the upgrade goes through them. We do the calculation that shows what you need and tell you before you have spent money on the appliance.

Yes. Old lines left behind after an appliance was removed are common in older Mississauga homes, and a live valve on a pipe that goes nowhere is not something to leave sitting behind drywall. We cap it properly and test the rest of the system afterwards.
