What We Install

New gas lines for the things you want to add.

If it runs on natural gas, we can run a line to it. These are the jobs homeowners call us for most.

BBQs and outdoor kitchens

A fixed line out to the deck or patio, so you never run out of propane again. The shut-off valve goes outside, where you can reach it.

Gas stoves and ranges

Switching from electric to gas? We run the line to the kitchen and fit a shut-off valve behind the stove. Most gas stoves still need a regular plug for the igniter.

Gas dryers

A line to the laundry room with its own shut-off valve. A gas dryer still needs a regular plug and a vent to the outside.

Fireplaces and firepits

Gas fireplaces, inserts and log sets inside, and firepits outside. A fireplace used to heat a room needs a City permit. We tell you if yours does.

Garage and patio heaters

Heaters for the garage, a workshop or the patio. That includes running gas out to a detached garage.

Furnace and water heater hookups

A new furnace, tank or tankless water heater can need a bigger gas line than the old one. Tankless heaters often do. We check before it goes in.

Redoing a kitchen or finishing a basement? We move, extend or cap gas lines to fit the new layout. It is easiest before the drywall goes up.

Before We Start

Can your gas supply handle one more appliance?

We check this first, on every job. It is the step that keeps your furnace and everything else running properly.

  • Every gas appliance in your home shares one supply from the meter
  • We add up everything that burns gas: furnace, water heater, stove, and the new one
  • We measure how far the new appliance is from the meter
  • Those two numbers decide how big the pipe has to be
  • Too small, and the furnace can run short of gas on the coldest nights
If your gas meter is too small, the gas company has to upgrade it. We tell you before you buy the new appliance, not after.

Pricing

What a new gas line costs.

Every home is different, so we price each job after we see it. You agree the price in writing before any work starts.

  • Distance from the meter. A short run costs less than a long one.
  • What the pipe goes through. An open basement ceiling is easier than a finished ceiling, a wall or the outside of the house.
  • Pipe size. Bigger appliances need bigger pipe.
  • How many appliances. Adding two at once costs less than two separate visits.
  • Permits. If your job needs one, it is in the price.

Our published prices are on the pricing list. 0% financing from $42 a month is available on qualifying installs.

FAQ

Gas line installation FAQs.

Can I switch my propane BBQ to natural gas?

Some BBQs can, using a conversion kit made by the BBQ maker. Some cannot be converted at all. Check your manual before you buy a kit. A BBQ built for natural gas at the factory is the simplest option.

Where does the shut-off valve for a new gas appliance go?

Every gas appliance gets its own shut-off valve, close to the appliance and easy to reach. For a BBQ it is usually on the outside wall. For a stove it is behind or beside the stove. We show you where it is before we leave.

Will a new gas line affect my furnace?

Not if the line is sized right. That is why we add up everything in your home that uses gas before we start. A line that is too small can leave the furnace short of gas when the stove, dryer and water heater are running too.

Will my gas be turned off while you work?

Only for a short time, when we connect the new line to your existing pipe. We tell you before we turn it off. Afterwards we relight your furnace, water heater and anything else we turned off.

Can you run the gas line before my new appliance arrives?

Yes. Send us the model name or the spec sheet. The gas rating is listed there, and that is what we size the line for. The new line is capped safely until the appliance is ready to hook up.

Can you move a gas line for a kitchen or basement renovation?

Yes. We move, extend or cap gas lines to fit the new layout. Call us before the walls and ceilings are closed up. Running pipe through open framing is easier and costs less.

How much does it cost to run a gas line for a BBQ or stove?

It depends on how far the appliance is from your gas meter and what the pipe has to pass through. You get the full price in writing before any work starts. 0% financing from $42 a month is available on qualifying installs.

Can I run a gas line myself?

No. In Ontario, gas piping has to be installed by a licensed gas fitter. We have our own, so your gas work is never handed to another company.
